Field practice
You get three credits for the course. At the end of the semester, your work will be evaluated by your ELTE IIPE supervisor and another supervisor from your host institution.
Activities:
a) Visiting and observing at the institution
b) Participating in the work of the institution
c) Seminars and consultations:
a. Preparatory classes: to get to know the course requirements, and discuss
how the document analysis, the class observation and the field notes
should be conducted.
b. Consultations: you must have meetings with your ELTE IIPE supervisor
(minimum of two occasions)
c. Presentation of your activities during your internship (Powerpoint
presentation)
d) Preparing the documents to be handed in
Documents you will have to hand in during the semester:
The documents will have to be uploaded to the e-learning site. Your supervisor might also ask you to send the documents by email.
1. Motivation letter (using the template from the e-learning site)
2. Work plan: detailed plan of your activities (concrete dates, including deadlines for the submission of the document analysis and field notes). Your work plan must be approved by your supervisor.
3. Document analysis: you must choose a document (education plan, founding document, etc.) and analyse it from a multicultural aspect (if there is a language barrier, you must discuss with your ELTE IIPE supervisor what document can be analysed).
Deadline: you will have to agree with your supervisor and write it in your work plan.
4. Field notes: you will have to prepare three field notes during the semester.

Content of the field notes:
- first field note: your expectations from the institution and the internship, getting to know the institution, first impressions and reflections
- second field note: an interim field note in which you reflect on your activities: what you actually do, what experiences you have, etc.
- third field note: summarising your internship and analysing it from a multicultural aspect.
In your field notes, you must reflect on your own experiences, your personal development (e.g. intercultural competence), refer to your theoretical background (using literature references), demonstrating that you are capable of conceptualising your everyday observations. The field notes must contain the notes you made during your class observations.
5. PPT / Prezi/ Poster/ Vlog presentation of your activities at the end of the semester.
6. Short summary of your whole activity, experiences, professional development and competence learning.
Evaluation criteria:
Internship activities at your host institute: 50%
All documents, field notes submitted, consultations, presentation: 50%
Absence from seminars:
If you are absent from one seminar, your final grade can be a maximum of 4 (regardless of your internship activity and the quality of your submitted documents).
If you are absent from two seminars, your final grade can be a maximum of 3 (regardless of your internship activity and the quality of your submitted documents).
Attending the final presentation class is obligatory, if you are absent, you will not get the credits for the course.
You have to have at least one consultation, or you will not get the credits for the course.
All documents have to be uploaded to the e-learning site. If you fail to do so, you will not get the credits for the course.
